What exactly is an AHK? AHK stands for ‘Chamber of Commerce Abroad’ and is abbreviated based on the name in German, “Auslandshandelskammer”. With over 150 locations in 93 countries across the world, we are your reliable contact partner. Our AHK network comprises bilateral, independent companies, the chambers of commerce abroad as well as delegations and representative offices of the German economy. We advise, assist and represent German companies both locally and worldwide to help them establish or expand their foreign business. With this aim, the AHKs act as institutions to promote German foreign trade and are subsidised by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action (BMWK). Together with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHKs) in Germany, we form a large network. The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) is also part of this network and is responsible for coordinating the AHKs and advancing our network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad. In turn, we draw on the extensive knowledge and information of the DIHK and the IHKs in Germany. What role do the AHKs play? Our mission is to support companies that want to tap into new markets and expand existing business relationships. We offer a wide range of services to boost your success abroad. To mark the commencement of Ms. Ziska’s leadership and to lay the foundation for a fruitful and successful collaboration in the years ahead, the Chamber initiated an inaugural Meet & Greet. This event, the first of many planned gatherings, brought together key stakeholders from the German-Irish business community, offering an opportunity to engage with the new CEO and discuss future initiatives under her stewardship. As the new CEO of the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Ms. Ziska is set to build on the strong existing ties between Germany and Ireland. Recognising Ireland’s remarkable economic growth, technological innovation, and its strategic role in Europe’s decarbonisation efforts, she aims to deepen collaboration between the two nations. Her leadership will focus on leveraging the expertise of German companies to contribute to Ireland’s sustainable energy initiatives, particularly in wind energy and hydrogen production, areas where Ireland is poised to become a critical player. “We are thrilled to welcome Stefanie Ziska to the Chamber,” said President of the Council, Simon Dauber “Her international experience, coupled with her strong track record in fostering business growth, makes her the ideal leader to drive the Chamber’s mission of enhancing German-Irish business relations.” Under Ms. Ziska’s leadership, the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce looks forward to a new chapter of growth and collaboration, strengthening the economic partnership between Germany and Ireland.
